Crosskeys station

Rail replacement buses are currently running while the Ebbw Valley railway line is closed for upgrades.

The line, which includes Newbridge, Crosskeys, and Risca and Pontymister stations, closed on Saturday March 25 and will remain closed until Thursday March 30.

Transport for Wales is running a bus service between Ebbw Vale and Cardiff Central while the railway is closed.

This work is part of the Ebbw Vale enhancement scheme, which will allow for an extra hourly rail service from Ebbw Vale to Newport in the future.

The main work sites include Newbridge station, where bricks are being laid to form part of the new platform walls.

Meanwhile, is being carried out around Crosskeys and Abercarn to allow for more space for the second rail track to be fitted.

Work on the line will continue into the summer, with further closures of the line scheduled until then.

These closures will happen on:

  • Sunday April 23 to Sunday April 30
  • Sunday May 21
  • Wednesday May 24 to Sunday June 11
  • Sunday June 18
  • Sunday June 25
  • Sunday July 2
  • Sunday July 9
  • Sunday July 16
