Blackwood’s town mayor has praised the “total motivation and commitment” of Wales Air Ambulance following a visit to the Air Ambulance heliport in Cardiff.

During his year-long term as town mayor, independent councillor George Edwards has been raising money for Wales Air Ambulance, which is his chosen charity.

His term began in May last year.

The amount of money raised by Cllr Edwards during his term is expected to be confirmed this summer.

Cllr Edwards said ” I was very impressed with the crews total motivation and commitment for the exceptional work they undertake throughout Wales and pleased to give them my support “

Laura Coyne, Wales Air Ambulance Community Fundraiser, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Mayor George Edwards for choosing us as his nominated charity.

“Our vital lifesaving service relies on the generosity of people like Cllr Edwards and all those who contribute to his fundraising.

“This kindness ensures that we can be there to help those in need, wherever and whenever they need us.”
