More than 10,000 visitors descended on Caerphilly town centre for this year’s Caerphilly Food Festival.

The event, which was held on Saturday April 29, saw more than 130 traders set up their stalls, with cookery demonstrations, entertainers and children’s funfair rides adding to the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, footfall at Castle Court shopping centre reached 25,144 during the event – up from 20,480 in 2022.

The festival was hailed a success by organisers Caerphilly County Borough Council. Its deputy leader, Cllr Jamie Pritchard, said: “The Caerphilly Food and Drink Festival was an overwhelming success yet again.

“The event was strongly supported by residents, the business community and our events team, who once again pulled out all the stops. The town was thriving, and people had a great time”.

Sarah and Gareth Clint, of Crafty Legs, set up their 68 of their green and yellow gazebos for traders to use during the festival.

They said: “What an amazing atmosphere and what a fantastic day for all crafters, small businesses and for south Wales residents.

“The support from the events team for us was second to none.

“It was such a pleasure to supply and install 68 gazebos through our home town and host our own craft fair of 38 local crafters around the Cenotaph.

“To see Caerphilly so busy was fantastic for our local high street, we felt proud to be part of it.”

Spring fairs have already been held in Blackwood and Ystrad Mynach this year, with Bargoed May Fair being held on Saturday May 13.
