Benjamin Lloyd died in April, aged just 27

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of 27-year-old Benjamin Lloyd in Abertridwr last month.

Appearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday May 3, 28-year-old Jay Webster, of Caerphilly Road, Senghenydd, admitted to killing Mr Lloyd with a single punch.

Mr Lloyd, 27, was found unresponsive at an address on Cefn Ilan Road, Abertridwr, at around 9.45am on Sunday April 2.

Mr Lloyd’s family described him as “one of life’s true gentlemen” in a tribute issued through Gwent Police.

CCTV footage played in court showed Webster throwing a punch at his friend Mr Lloyd, who had hit him first.

The incident happened on White Street, near Caerphilly library, on the evening of Saturday April 1.
