Free drama taster sessions are taking place in Bargoed this week.
Stargoed, which is run out of St Gwladys’ Church Hall, is offering free taster sessions of their children’s drama club on Thursday August 31.
There is no need to pre-book for the two sessions, which are divided up by age.
There is a session for ages three- to four-years-old taking place between 1.30pm and 2pm and then from 2.15pm to 3pm another session will be run for older children between the ages of five and 11.
The classes usually run weekly and are led by Lisa Mitchard, who lives in Caerphilly and has a Masters in drama.
Lisa has run the sessions in Bargoed since September 2022, which are supported by the Caerphilly County Borough Council arts development team and run by the team at St Gwladys’ Church Hall.
Speaking previously to Caerphilly Observer, Lisa said: “Stargoed is a community class to have lots of fun and just build lots of skills.”
There’s singing, dancing, games and teamworking – all based around drama.
Miriam Page is a project coordinator at the hall and helps with the classes, which, as she explained to Caerphilly Observer, are in line with the ethos of the church hall.
“We’re a grassroots project and we’re run by the Church in Wales,” said Miriam. “Our belief is to just provide healthy and wellbeing-focused activities for the community.”
Stargoed classes usually are priced at £3 to keep costs to a minimum.
