Man taken to hospital after being attacked outside shop

Police are appealing after a 32-year-old man was taken to hospital following an assault in Penyrheol.

The incident happened outside Top Stores, Heol Aneurin, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Friday September 1, Gwent Police has said.

The victim was reported to have been leaving the store when he was approached by a group of unknown men, one of which then hit him.

The attacker has been described as being in his early 20s, around 5ft10in tall and of a slim build, with light brown or blonde hair.

The victim’s injuries are not life-changing or life-threatening, police confirmed.

Gwent Police is investigating the attack and has urged anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to call 101 quoting log reference 2300294867.
