A course helping young entrepreneurs bring their business ideas to life is starting in Caerphilly in the new year.

Starting on January 23, the eight-week course will run at the Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise (Welsh ICE) on Caerphilly Business Park.

The 5-9 Club programme is being run by Welsh ICE and Caerphilly County Borough Council, and will be held on Tuesdays between 5pm and 9pm.

The course will connect participants aged 16 to 24 with industry experts and covers the crucial aspects of starting a business, such as idea generation, sales, marketing, branding, business planning and more.

It will also offer guidance on how to secure funding, as well as legal aspects of running a business.

In the final week of the programme, participants will be able to present their ideas to experts and receive feedback.

Tom Phillips, ICE Academy manager, said: “Our shared goal, in partnership with the council, is to cultivate a supportive and empowering environment where young innovators can explore their entrepreneurial spirits, acquire essential knowledge and skills, and transform their business ideas into a tangible reality.”

Council deputy leader Jamie Pritchard said: “Our young people will have the opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial skills and develop their ideas on this exciting new programme. An excellent opportunity awaits.”

The course will be available both in-person at Welsh ICE and online.
