Adam O’Reilly, 21, has been jailed for three years after admitting to supplying drugs and dangerous driving following a high-speed car chase through Caerphilly.

O’Reilly, from Abertridwr, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday November 29 after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and ketamine.

He also admitted to driving a car dangerously after trying to escape from Gwent Police officers.

O’Reilly was spotted by officers on Heol Aneurin, Penyrheol, in the early hours of Sunday April 23, prompting a car chase which reached speeds of more than 120mph along the A468 before O’Reilly’s car came to halt outside a primary school.

PC Rhys Jones, the officer in the case, said: “O’Reilly drove in a dangerous manner by taking roundabouts in the wrong direction and reaching speeds in excess of 100mph to avoid officers who were asking him to stop.

“His reckless driving style through some residential areas put other road users and members of the public at risk.

“After the chase had finished, he was found to be in possession of more than £10,000 worth of drugs which he was planning to supply to others for profit.

“This is a significant sentence which highlights the unacceptable nature of O’Reilly’s offending; both the dangerousness of his driving and the supply of class A and B drugs which often lead to other forms of criminal behaviour and target the most vulnerable within our communities.”

If you have concerns about drug dealing in your area then call Gwent Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. You can also message the force via social media.

Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
