Blood donation hubs will be set up in Caerphilly County Borough in the new year.

A donation hub will run at Newbridge Leisure Centre on Tuesday January 2 and Wednesday January 3.

A hub will also run at Bryn Meadows, near Maesycwmmer, on Wednesday January 10.

A Welsh Blood Service spokesperson said: “At present only 3% of the population donate blood.

“Each donation will save three lives or six premature babies.

“It’s such a wonderful way to support your community and give someone the best gift over Christmas.

“We supply 19 hospitals in Wales and last month in November, we supplied Aneurin Bevan 890 units of blood to support patients in need.”

Visit the Welsh Blood Service’s website to make an appointment to donate blood.
