Stagecoach has announced changes to its bus timetables across south Wales due to the 20mph rollout, but no alterations have been made in Caerphilly.
When asked by Caerphilly Observer in September 2023, ahead of the rollout, the bus company said no changes would be made to timetables, as they expected the buses to run on time.
As of January 7 however, changes have been made to services in Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, and Torfaen; but not Caerphilly.
A Caerphilly-based bus driver for Stagecoach previously told Caerphilly Observer staff were given a “point blank no” when they asked for more time to complete routes.
Other bus companies in Wales, such as Arriva in north Wales, have adjusted their timetables too, allowing drivers more time to complete routes.
Martin Gibbon, managing director for Stagecoach South Wales, said: “There were changes to some services across our network from January 7.
“The changes were implemented to improve the reliability of the timetables following the rollout of the 20mph default speed limit and congestion at peak times.
“The details of the changes have been communicated to customers using our usual channels as we continue to work with local authorities and Welsh Government to minimise disruption.”
