A Caerphilly-based company whose work is seen daily by millions of television viewers across the globe has won a prestigious industry award.

KPX, also known as Kinetic Pixel, is a ‘behind the scenes’ specialist in the technology powering some of the small screen’s biggest shows.

From the rebooted Gladiators currently pulling in the numbers on BBC 1, to the newly-launched UK version of Jeopardy on ITV, the company is responsible for creating the scoreboards, graphics, and various other systems integral to these shows.

The company, which also works on Richard Osman’s House of Games, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and the Masked Singer, is made up of 16 employees and is based on Caerphilly Business Park.

TV industry bible Broadcast Magazine has named the firm one of the ‘Best Places to Work In TV’ as part of its annual awards. Along with this award, KPX also placed third in the ‘Best Employer For Work/Life Balance’ category.

Craig Hann, KPX co-founder and Managing Director said: “It’s very special for KPX to be recognised by our peers and Broadcast Magazine for our efforts to ensure that our employees have the best possible experience working for Kinetic Pixel.

“It’s important to us that we can offer all our staff a good work-life balance, especially in a demanding industry such as ours.”

Award winners were chosen after a thorough judging process which included an employee survey.

Broadcast Magazine highlighted a wide range of employee benefits as being key to the company’s success.

When the cost-of-living crisis hit, the company looked at employee pay, giving many a rise. KPX also distributed a pot of money equally between staff to help with additional food and energy costs for Christmas.

The company also donates computer equipment it no longer needs to charities and community groups.

Craig added: “I think that our policies such as uncapped annual leave, health insurance, social events, bonuses and fair salaries demonstrate that we’re a company that puts people first.

“We celebrate success, create opportunities for training, personal development and career growth, and open the door for our team to learn from, and contribute technically and creatively, to the global entertainment industry.

“Without our talented and dedicated team we would not be able to hold on to our reputation and position as an industry-leading entertainment technology company.”
