Players from Machen RFC’s U10s squad walked almost 20 kilometres, or around 12 miles, from Caerphilly Castle to Cardiff Castle to raise money for their upcoming tour.
The group of boys have been playing together for a few years now according to coach Doug Hann, and their tour to Devon in May will be their first as a team due to Covid disruption.
Speaking to Caerphilly Observer about the walk, Hann said: “It was a really good day. We set-off at around 9am from Caerphilly and made a few stops along the way.

“We had a quick game of touch rugby at Llandaff field and got into Cardiff for about 2.30pm. Everyone really enjoyed it though.”
Coach Hann went on to say the group has raised more than £800 from their walk on Sunday March 24, and expects that number to grow.
He added: “It’ll be great for the lads to have a trip together, I think it’s the first time where every age group will be on the same tour.
“We’re always looking for new players so if anyone is interested, please get in touch with the club.”
