Markham’s Gerwyn Price has suffered another Premier League Darts first-round exit after losing to Michael Smith in Birmingham.

Price went into Night 11, on Thursday April 11, off the back of a strong performance in the previous week, which saw him score a nine-darter in a semi-final victory over Smith.

However, he was unable to repeat that achievement in the midlands, falling to a 6-3 loss.

The defeat sees Price remain seventh in the Premier League standings, losing ground in the hunt for a play-off spot.

The night was eventually won by Dutchman Michael van Gerwen, who beat 17-year-old Premier League leader Luke Littler 6-3 in the final.

The competition heads to the Netherlands for Night 12 in Rotterdam on Thursday April 18 – with Price facing Rob Cross in the opener.

The Premier League consists of 16 mini-events held across different cities throughout the season, with each league night comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the best of 11 legs.

Points will be awarded each night to form the league table, from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs, which will be held at the O2 in London on Thursday May 23.
