Horses killed in early morning crash

The A465 was closed today after two horses were killed in a collision

Two horses have been killed in a crash near Rhymney. 

The incident involved a vehicle and three horses on the A465.

In response, the road between Dowlais and Rhymney was closed for several hours, causing delays.

Gwent Police said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A465, near Rhymney, at around 4.40am on Wednesday 17 April. 

“Officers attended along with the fire and rescue service. The collision involved a vehicle and three horses. Two horses died at the scene.”

The road has since reopened.
