Markham’s Gerwyn Price was on the wrong end of a Michael van Gerwen comeback as the Iceman crashed out in the opening round of Premier League Darts Night 15.
Price, who was already mathematically out of the play-off hunt going into the event in Leeds on Thursday May 9, took a 3-1 lead against the Dutchman.
However, Van Gerwen went on to win five straight sets to win 6-3 – before cruising to a 6-1 semi-final victory over Luke Littler.
However, Van Gerwen was defeated by reigning world champion Luke Humphries in the final.
The Premier League consists of 16 mini-events held across different cities throughout the season, with each league night comprising quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final over the best of 11 legs.
Points will be awarded each night to form the league table, from which the top four players will progress to the play-offs, which will be held at the O2 in London on Thursday May 23.
The final league stage event takes place in Sheffield on Thursday May 16, with Price facing Humphries in his opening game.
