Gerwyn Price’s bid for a second consecutive European Darts Open title was brought to an end by Dirk van Duijvenbode over the weekend.
Price, from Markham, entered the competition in the second round, but fell to a 6-2 defeat to the Dutchman on Saturday June 22.
Van Duijvenbode averaged 102 and pinned six of his nine attempts at double to topple Price.
However, he would go on to lose to Germany’s Martin Schindler in the last 16.
The competition, which was held in Leverkusen, Germany, was eventually won by Dave Chisnall, who beat Ross Smith 8-6 in the final.
