Bedwas FC was formed in March this year

Bedwas FC formed in March this year and already have big hopes ahead of their inaugural season – with dozens showing-up to preseason training.

It’ll be the first ever senior football team to bear the Bedwas name, according to one of its founders, Kelly Street, who along with husband Matthew, have entered the Newport and District football league.

Matthew, from Trethomas, has been involved in several local sides, and said how impressed he was to see so many people turn-up to training on the 3G pitch at Bedwas High School.

“In our first session we had 16 show-up before that number jumped to 24 in the next. Its been incredible to see so many people involved after a few short weeks.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with support from the local community too. We have lots of sponsors already and we’re all looking forward to the season ahead.”

New players are encouraged to attend a training session in Bedwas held every Tuesday between 6pm and 7pm.
