The team finished fourth in the world

Studio 54, in Blackwood, is celebrating its recent success at a world championship event in Blackpool earlier this month.

Opened by Jenna Curtis seven years ago, the group, based on High Street in Blackwood, now has more than 120 dancers across multiple age groups, performing musical theatre and hip-hop style dances.

Having performed at Disneyland Paris and Alton Towers already this year, 21 dancers took to the stage at Blackpool where various age groups and styles had success.

Gem Astley, mother of two group members, spoke to Caerphilly Observer and said: “The standard at the tournament was incredible. There were 60 countries competing.

“It was an intense few days and we did so well with a couple picking-up silvers and bronze whilst the Welsh group finished fourth.”

The dance group has been invited to Las Vegas in 2026 and is looking to raise some sponsorship money. For more details, you can message the page on social media.
