Wales and England players pose after last year’s encounter in Llandovery

Wales will play England in two physical disability rugby league international matches, starting with a home game in Pontypool at 2pm on Saturday August 31.

The return leg will be played on the afternoon of Saturday October 12 in Salford, with the players and officials from both sides then attending the Super League Grand Final.

Physical disability rugby league is a running, mixed contact adaption of rugby league played by players with a range of impairments that limit their mobility or coordination.

Wales head coach Rob Davies said: “We’ve had a busy year to date, adding depth and quality to our squad.

“We showed glimpses in the two games at the start of the year of what we’re capable of and I’m excited to give a warm Gwent valleys welcome to the world champions and see how far we’ve come as a group.”

Davies has named his squad for the first match a week on Saturday, with just Simon Kilday of Torfaen Tigers a potential new cap.

Admission to the match at Pontypool United RFC costs £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, with under-16s attending free of charge.

The match is a culmination of a weekend of international rugby league with Wales Masters taking on Canada at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday August 30, kick-off 7pm.
