Darts star Gerwyn Price has missed out on a place in the World Grand Prix quarter-finals after a losing to James Wade in straight sets.
Price, from Markham, was beaten 3-0 by the Englishman in Leicester on Thursday October 10, and was one of two former world champions knocked out on the night.
Gary Anderson also crashed out after losing to Belgium’s Mike de Decker, who will now face Wade in the quarters.
“I don’t enjoy playing against Gezzy,” reflected Wade.
“It’s tough playing against such a good friend. He’s one of the nicest people in darts, alongside Jonny Clayton.
“I was good enough [to get the win] tonight. There were enough opportunities given to me and I took them, so I’m really happy to be back in the quarter-finals.”
Following the defeat, Price posted on his Instagram story saying: “Gutted, felt good tonight but wasn’t be to be.
“Thanks for all the continued support, I promise I’ll be back to normal soon, hopefully ready for the big one.”
The World Grand Prix concludes on Sunday October 13, with a £120,000 prize for the winner.
