A new co-working space, with meeting rooms and desks for freelancers and small businesses, is opening in Ystrad Mynach next month.

Caerphilly-based TownSq, which runs numerous co-working spaces across Wales and England, is behind the space, which is set to officially open on November 7.

Based at London House on Penallta Road, it will also be home to TownSq’s new headquarters.

TownSq co-founder Mandy Weston said that while the company has grown beyond the county borough, Caerphilly has always felt like home.

She said: “We’re so proud of everything we have already achieved at TownSq and we’re excited about the plans we have in store for the business at home and further afield.”

After setting up Welsh ICE in Caerphilly 12 years ago, Ms Weston and fellow co-founder Gareth Jones sold their stake in the business to set up TownSq in 2017.

Now, the company has nine spaces across the UK in London, North Wales, Devon, Oxfordshire, Kent, West Sussex, Herefordshire and soon Ystrad Mynach – employing 35 members of staff and providing business support to thousands of freelancers and small businesses across the country.

Ms Weston continued: “We’ve grown a national business in the last seven years, but we’re committed to keeping our HQ in Caerphilly County Borough.

“The Valleys are a great place to do business, we’ve built a fantastic team and have enjoyed seeing them grow with our expansion. With communities like the Caerphilly Business Club and so much more going on, it feels like a good time to invest in the local economy.

Five new co-working spaces set up to give venues new lease of life

“Our head office has a coworking space and meeting rooms, so we can keep providing support to local business owners. We’ve worked with 500 local businesses across the borough this year alone – and grow a national business from a thriving town in the heart of the valleys.”
