Bluebirds keeper Harry Irving’s heroics against Newport City have earned him a place in the team of the week

Trethomas Bluebirds goalkeeper Harry Irving features in Cymru Leagues’ team of the week after his brilliant performance in a 2-1 win over Newport City.

The Bluebirds number one was kept busy under the floodlights on Friday January 3, making some vital stops in pretty poor conditions on a rugby pitch in the freezing cold.

After taking a 2-0 lead, the Cymru South leaders were under serious pressure for most of the second-half, but Irving matched the best Newport had to offer and Trethomas held on for three points.

His manager Mark Dunford said: “Harry deserves this recognition. He is very focussed and dedicated and his performance against Newport City in particular was nothing short of exceptional.”

Last season’s golden glove winner will be hoping for another big game against Goytre United on Friday night.
