Residents, friends, family, and the community all took part in the events

Abermill Care Home in Abertridwr has hosted ‘care home open week’, with a full timetable of nostalgic celebrations for its residents and the community.

The home’s main celebration events took place between Friday June 20 and Sunday June 22, with residents, colleagues, friends, and family all invited along.

Care home open week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care, designed to connect care homes with their local communities. The week provides care homes the opportunity to showcase their range of services, provide tours of their facilities, and highlight the activities that are offered to residents.

HC-One Wales, which manages the care home, chose the theme of ‘big summer weekender’, emulating the “nostalgic feel” of British summer holidays, with a variety of activities, ending in a celebration party at the home.

Residents and guests enjoyed a chippy tea, followed by a visit from the ice-cream van, adding a sweet touch to the sunny afternoon.

Christine Tipper, HC-One Wales’s Abermill Care Home manager, said: “We were delighted to welcome our local community to Abermill Care Home as part of this year’s care home open week celebrations. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the warmth, compassion, and high-quality care we provide every day.

“It was also a chance for us to connect with families, friends, and neighbours, and to celebrate the amazing contributions of our residents and colleagues. Thank you for everyone who attended and who took the time to join in our vibrant life at Abermill.”
