The footbridge in Newbridge will be removed this weekend

Work is set to begin to repair a damaged footbridge in Newbridge, with the council announcing overnight road closures this weekend.

The “damaged” footbridge, over the A467 in Pantside, will be removed across Friday July 4 and Saturday July 5.

To minimise disruption, the A467 will be closed between 8pm and 6.30am.

The bridge will then be repaired away from the site due to safety concerns.

The repaired bridge is set to return later this year, with the council stating that September 12 and 13 have been provisionally set as times to reinstall the bridge.
