Gwent Police is investigating a reported sexual assault, believed to have happened in Parc Penallta in the early hours of Tuesday July 29.

The assault is said to have happened in a car at around 3.40am.

The victim, a 39-year-old woman, ran away and onto a road, before a man and woman stopped to help.

Police would like to speak to the man and woman, who were driving in the area, as they may have information that could help with the investigation.

Detective Inspector Matt Clarke, of Gwent Police, said: “Specially-trained officers are currently supporting the victim. We understand that reports of this nature will cause concern for our communities, but officers are carrying out detailed enquiries to establish the circumstances.

“We appreciate that the area of Parc Penallta is quite vast but if you were in the area at the time, or have footage that could assist our investigation, please contact us via our website, call us on 101, or DM us on Facebook or X, quoting log reference 2500241998.”

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online, or by calling 0800 555 111.
