The Caerphilly Cheese Festival is back on Saturday August 30 and Sunday August 31, bringing two days of food, live music and family entertainment to the town centre.

A celebration of cheese and local produce

Cheese lovers will find plenty to savour at the Cheese Fair on Crescent Road, where artisan producers will be offering tasters and sales. Among those taking part are:

• Bath Soft Cheese Company – award-winning handmade cheeses from their own herd.
• Bexton Cheese – traditional farmhouse varieties.
• Bryngaer Goats – locally made goats’ cheese.
• Snowdonia Cheese Co. – their famous waxed truckles and chutneys.
• Blaenafon Cheddar Company – handmade Welsh cheddar.
• The Cheese Wedge Co. – small-batch cheeses.
• The Great British Cheese Company – artisan waxed truckles and chutneys.
• Usk Valley Cheese Company – cheeses, chutneys and chilli jams.

Alongside the cheese, the food halls and markets across the town will showcase everything from Welsh honey and preserves to artisan bread, pies, pastries, cakes, spirits, ciders and more. Over 40 craft and information stalls will also line the streets, offering handmade gifts, jewellery, home décor and local produce.

Street food will be plentiful, with vendors serving cuisines from across the world – including souvlaki, paella, hog roasts, Thai, Korean and Persian dishes, plus festival favourites such as toasties, crepes, waffles and doughnuts.

Live music across three stages

The festival’s music programme runs from midday each day across three stages, with community performances in the mornings.

• On the Green Lady Stage (Cardiff Road/Kings Arms), highlights include Secret Postal Society, Gypsy Flower and Caerphilly’s own Wrenna on Saturday, with Sunday performances from Late to the Party and the Rebecca Richards Trio.
• The Castle Moat Stage (Crescent Road) will feature Ragsy, who returns to the stage after heart surgery earlier this year, plus The Orphic Blue and Moonstorm on Saturday, and acoustic sets from Louis & Ella Music Show and Post Modern Shoebox on Sunday.
• The main stage at Twyn Car Park will host festival headliners: The Switchtones on Saturday evening and Big Mac’s Wholly Soul Band on Sunday. Other acts include The Blues Sisters, Juicy Lucy & The Jokers, Albino Frogs and funk band NOOKEE.

Community groups including the Kinetic School of Performing Arts and Sound of Hope will also take to the main stage.

Family entertainment and activities

The weekend offers plenty for families:

• Petting farm and exotic animals including meerkats, reptiles and small farm animals.
• Donkey rides and a giant deckchair for family photos.
• Funfair rides at the rear of Caerphilly Castle, from waltzers and dodgems to trampolines and bumper cars.
• Punch and Judy shows, sand art workshops, slime-making, and swordplay sessions with the Academy of Steel Young Wolves.
• Falconry UK will bring birds of prey for static displays and demonstrations.

Food, drink and relaxation

Visitors can enjoy a wide choice of bars, with cider, ales, cocktails and spirits available in designated areas. Seating and picnic spots will be dotted across the town centre, Twyn Car Park and Dafydd Williams Park, with views across Caerphilly Castle.

Caerphilly Cheese Festival 2025 takes place across the town centre on 30–31 August. Entry is free, with food, drink and some activities individually priced.
