Valleys Gymnastics Academy on Croespenmaen Industrial Estate

Caerphilly Council planners have rejected a gymnastics organisation’s plans to extend its base.

Valleys Gymnastics Academy had applied for planning permission to move into a neighbouring unit at Croespenmaen Industrial Estate.

The proposal, to change the use of the unit from industrial to leisure purposes, would have created “a community gymnastics training space” and four jobs, the group argued.

No public objections were lodged during a recent consultation period on the proposals.

But Caerphilly County Borough Council planning officers judged the application lacked “sufficient detail” of the proposed development’s potential impact on residential properties.

They said they were unable to come up with planning conditions for noise control “as it is not known how the [proposed new] use would operate in practice”.

The planners also said the project lacked detail on proposed parking arrangements, and it was “not considered that the application demonstrates that adequate off-street parking facilities can be provided within the site”.
