A shop owner in Ystrad Mynach has applied for planning permission to build five flats above his premises.

If approved, the new homes would be constructed on the first floor of the Premier Stores on Bedwlwyn Road.

Designs submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council show part of the proposed development site is currently a flat roof, with a warehouse area at the back of the property.

According to plans submitted on behalf of applicant Ashishkumar Parekh, the redevelopment would include four two-bedroom flats and a single one-bedroom flat above the shop, which also contains a pizza business.

Each of those premises would remain unchanged by the proposals, but a rear office area could be redesigned for bin storage, the plans show.

The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0638/FULL.
