A former butcher’s shop in Pengam could become short-stay accommodation, according to new proposals lodged with Caerphilly County Borough Council.

The applicant, Paul Spiller, wants to breathe new life into the premises in Cardiff Road, Glan Y Nant, by redeveloping it as “an Airbnb”.

Designs submitted to the council show the redevelopment site would include the current shop area on the ground floor, as well as a storage space upstairs.

The application is currently under consideration, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 25/0824/COU.

Formal plans set out to replace old pub with 37 new one-bed homes
