A free support group providing a range of fun activities for children with sight loss and their families is coming to Caerphilly.
Guide Dogs My Time To Play is a programme led by qualified habilitation specialists who use a broad range of skills to encourage children to use their non-visual senses, with each session being based around a sensory story that includes movement, songs, and other related activities.
Habilitation services manager Branwen Jones said the programme helps children “develop the practical skills and confidence to explore their world, all through the power of play”.
She continued: “We offer structured, fun, and supportive sessions for children and their families, each based around sensory stories and related activities including songs, crafts, yoga, and music.
“Parents will be able to meet others in a similar situation, share experiences and pick up skills and knowledge to support their child’s early years development with confidence.”
Available to children aged four and under, the programme also offers a free assessment with a habilitation specialist.
Weekly sessions will start on Friday February 6 at 10.30am at The Old Library Cafe in Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly.
Parents can register by emailing children@guidedogs.org.uk or calling 08007811444. Visit the Guide Dogs website for more information.
