A Pengam-based GP was invited to 10 Downing Street last week for a celebration of Wales and Welsh culture ahead of St David’s Day.

Dr Manmeet Kaur, of Pengam Health Centre, was nominated by the Wales Office to join a number of guests from across Wales, who were recognised for their contributions to culture, community wellbeing, and public service.

Dr Kaur is also the health and wellbeing lead for the Thriving Communities community interest company, as well as being a yoga, mindfulness, breath and meditation coach leading free sessions and workshops in the community.

Reflecting on the honour, Dr Kaur said: “I felt truly honoured to attend and represent Wales. It was a proud moment connecting with inspiring people from across the country. It felt like a dream I never even dreamed becoming a reality.”

Dr Kaur also thanked Thriving Communities’ volunteers and partners, including Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, for their continued support.
