Families and residents take part in outdoor activities celebrating nature and wellbeing during Ffair Cynefin

A community nature fair celebrating wildlife, wellbeing and creativity took place in Caerphilly at the weekend.

Climate Action Caerphilly, working alongside Thriving Communities CIC and Ukrainian artists and musicians, hosted the Ffair Cynefin / Nature Fair at Morgan Jones Park on Saturday May 16.

The event brought together residents, environmental organisations, families and community groups under the theme Nature is for everyone – Mae’r natur i bawb.

Visitors took part in a range of activities throughout the day, including bug hunts in the Tiny Forest, planting wildflowers, arts and crafts, wellbeing sessions and heritage activities.

Community groups, charities and environmental organisations hosted stalls and activities at the Ffair Cynefin

There were also environmental information stalls, conservation projects, and live music.

Organisers said the aim of the fair was to show that climate and nature action can be “inclusive, joyful and deeply rooted in community and culture”.

Groups involved included Morgan Jones Community Allotments, Caerphilly Woodland’s Trust, Natural Resources Wales’ National Forest for Wales project, Caerphilly Hedgehog Rescue, Draigwen Honey and Cardiff Beekeepers’ Association and others.

Alexis Celnik, from the Green Party, also attended to share information about the National Emergency Briefing film screening.

Adults and children joined in wellbeing and creative activities

A spokesperson for Climate Action Caerphilly said: “Ffair Cynefin was about celebrating the idea that nature belongs to everyone.

“It was wonderful to see people of all ages coming together through music, wildlife, wellbeing and creativity.”

Organisers also thanked council leader and local councillor Jamie Pritchard and Caerphilly County Borough Council for supporting the event as well as Friends of the Earth Cymru, which supported the event via a grant.
