A ten-year-old boy is recovering in hospital after falling from a zip wire during a school trip to an outdoor activity centre in the Brecon Beacons.
The pupil, from Libanus Primary School, was injured while visiting Dolygaer Outdoor Centre on the evening of May 13.
Emergency services were called to the centre at around 8pm following the incident.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Dolygaer Outdoor Centre said the pupil “was involved in a fall” and confirmed staff and a teacher responded immediately to provide first aid.
Medical care was also supported by a Mountain Rescue professional before the child was transferred into the care of paramedics.
The spokesperson said: “The student was transferred to the care of paramedics, and we understand he is now recovering in hospital.
“Our primary concern is the wellbeing of the student and their family, as well as the students and staff who witnessed this event.
“We are continuing to work closely with the school to provide necessary reassurance and support.
“Dolygaer remains committed to the highest standards of safety and will be cooperating fully with any further inquiries.”
Nicola Williams, executive headteacher of Libanus Primary School, confirmed the pupil had been involved in an accident at the activity centre last week.
She said: “The whole school community wishes him a full and speedy recovery.
“The safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff is paramount and we will be fully supporting the investigation into the cause of the incident.”
