A developer has asked for more time to submit detailed plans for 23 new homes on the former Aldi site in Rhymney.
Caerphilly Homes, the housing branch of Caerphilly County Borough Council, is behind the plans for the new development, of which slightly more than half will be classed as affordable housing.
Members of the council’s planning committee backed the initial plans for the site in May 2023, granting approval subject to conditions – including that a more detailed ‘reserved matters’ application be submitted within three years.
A statement by planning agents The Urbanists shows a reserved matters application is “being prepared”, but “it is unlikely that the submission will be submitted in line with the required timescales”.
Caerphilly Homes is requesting another two years to iron out the details of the new proposal.
The application is currently out for consultation, and can be viewed on the Caerphilly County Borough Council website under reference 26/0294/NCC.
