A Caerphilly comedian will launch her first solo comedy tour at the Caerphilly Miners Centre at 7pm on Sunday June 28.

Hari Berrow, whose comedy blends storytelling and stand-up, will perform a full hour-long solo show for the first time before taking the production on tour across south Wales.

The tour, titled I Will Survive, is inspired by her life following her father’s passing, telling the story of how her life changed in the months that followed.

The show explores grief and family relationships in a way that is humorous, accessible and inclusive, as Berrow aims to share her story in a distinctive and personal style.

Having always loved comedy, Hari attended drama school before completing a master’s degree and a PhD in Creative Writing, where she focused on learning how to write about and communicate grief effectively.

All of Hari’s work is deeply personal, drawing on her own day-to-day experiences, as well as environmental issues and wider current affairs.

She has previously performed in comedy and acting productions, appeared on BBC Radio Wales, and worked as a freelance copywriter.

Now, after several years of supporting others in her work, she is focusing on her own creative goals. Following a well-received private preview of her show last month, Hari said she is enjoying her renewed passion for comedy.

She told Caerphilly Observer: “After mentioning the idea to my friends, they all convinced me to do it. I am really looking forward to it.

“I welcome people from all backgrounds to attend my shows; you don’t have to be your typical theatre goer,” she continued.

“I just want audiences to go away and feel acknowledged and have a sense of fulfilment.

“I think storytelling is such a good way to do this, as it allows audiences to go on a journey with you and not feel forced to laugh all the time,” Hari explained.

So far, she has secured three shows – in Bridgend and Cardiff – with more dates planned.

Tickets for her show are available via Eventbrite. Tickets cost £11.55, with half of the proceeds going towards fundraising for the Miners Centre.
