Blackwood Little Theatre will present its modern take on Frankenstein next week, reimagining the classic story.
Frankenstein, originally staged by Danny Boyle at the National Theatre, and created by Mary Shelly, will be in Blackwood from July 9 to July 11.
The acclaimed stage adaptation is created by Nick Dear, who is altering the classic Frankenstein story through a deeply human lens.
The show will present a creature who is intelligent, articulate and searching for identity, and involves a cast and creative team from across South Wales, with James Amos as director.
Amos has approached the production with a focus on the humanity behind the horror usually seen in Frankenstein, and involves the impact that relationships have to everyone.
He said: “As a team we’re working hard to create a spectacular piece of theatre that will appeal to those passionate about the novel, those that are familiar with the various film adaptations and those that are coming with no preconceptions.
“It is a dark, unique story, that explores what it means to be a parent and what it means to be human.”
The production also highlights the importance of Blackwood Little Theatre as a venue, which offers diverse and ambitious productions.
The intimate feel of the venue, with its short run and seating layout, will allow for a close environment and a more dramatic ambience.
Tickets are available for Thursday July 9, Friday July 10, and Saturday July 11.
