Caerphilly County Borough Council will hold a by-election for its vacant Hengoed ward seat in August.
The by-election is being held after Donna Cushing won a seat in the Welsh Parliament during the Senedd elections held earlier this year.
Nominations for the by-election are set to close at 4pm on Friday July 10, and polling day will be on Thursday August 6.
The ward includes the communities of Hengoed and Cefn Hengoed.
Ms Cushing spent nearly a decade as a councillor before winning a seat for Plaid Cymru in May’s national vote, and now represents the Sir Fynwy Torfaen constituency in the Senedd.
Her election meant the Hengoed seat was vacated under Welsh rules that prevent Members of the Senedd also serving on local authorities.
On leaving her council role, Ms Cushing said previously: “I am very proud to have represented the people of Hengoed for so many years. I very much enjoyed speaking to residents day in, day out, representing their views in the council and fighting for local causes.”
She added: “Hengoed will always have a very special place to me, and I wish my successor all the luck in representing the great residents of the ward.”
Nomination papers for the Hengoed ward by-election can be obtained and submitted to the council’s returning officer at Bargoed House, 1 St Gwladys Way, Bargoed, CF81 8AB on weekdays between 10am and 4pm.
Nomination papers can also be submitted by email to nominations@caerphilly.gov.uk and in both cases, must be received by 4pm on Friday July 10.
More information about submitting nominations can be found on the council’s website.
