More than 60 Hendredenny residents and school pupils have taken part in the launch of a new environmental and community art project in Caerphilly County Borough.
The initiative, run by social enterprise NatureNurture.education alongside the Caerphilly Eco Hub group, aims to improve local green spaces and wildlife habitats across the area.
Funding for the scheme has been provided by Penyrheol, Trecenydd and Energlyn Community Council.
At the launch event last month, south Wales-based artist Jack Skivins led a mural painting session using artwork created by pupils from Hendredenny Park Primary School. A total of 63 people attended the session, which also featured eco-craft workshops and face painting.
The activity forms part of the broader Future Generations Grow Caerphilly project, which has worked with local schools over the past 12 months to encourage environmental work inspired by Welsh sustainability targets.
Organisers are now rolling out a series of autumn sessions involving local residents and students from Coleg y Cymoedd.
The upcoming event schedule includes:
- Friday September 18 (10am–12pm): Blooming Trecenydd at Trecenydd Community Centre
- Friday October 16 (10am–12pm): Planting at Penyrheol Community Centre
- Tuesday October 27 (12pm–4pm): Bug Hotel Build at Caerphilly Miners Centre
- Friday November 20 (10am–12pm): Trees for Trecenydd at Trecenydd Community Centre
- Saturday November 21 (1pm–4pm): Community Tree Planting Celebration at Trecenydd Community Centre, featuring live wood sculpting and stalls
- Friday December 11 (10am–12pm): Christmas Nature Crafting at Trecenydd Community Centre
