Body of missing Rhymney man discovered – man charged with murder

UPDATE: Man in court charged with Rhymney murder

The body of a Rhymney man last seen almost two weeks ago has been discovered by police.

Leonard Hill, 64, was last seen on Tuesday June 14 in the High Street area of Rhymney.

Police attended a property at Tan Y Bryn, Rhymney, on Saturday at 6pm where they discovered Mr Hill’s body.

A Gwent Police spokeswoman said a man in his 60s had been arrested in the Swansea area on suspicion of murder and currently in custody.

She said: “Officers are not looking for anyone else for this incident. Gwent Police are still continuing to investigate the death of the man and we are in contact with the relatives of who we believe is the deceased.”

She added that house-to-house inquiries and forensic examinations are taking place.

UPDATE: Gwent Police have charged a 64-year-old man who is due to appear before Caerphilly Magistrates on Tuesday.
