Six Coleg Gwent motor vehicle students recently got to grips with the science of speed at an aerodynamics workshop hosted by the University of West England in conjunction with the British attempt to break the land speed record, The Bloodhound Project.
The group, who study vehicle maintenance and repair at Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus, learnt about basic aerodynamics as well as taking part in a practical workshop session, where students designed and tested aerodynamic models.
Speaking about the workshops, lecturer Steve Wardman said: “Many of the students plan to go into the motor-sport engineering industry, so to learn about such a huge national project to and have the opportunity to put their skills to the test was fantastic.”
