Update on works on the A472 north of Hafodyrynys

Repairs to a retaining wall on the A472 just north of Hafodyrynys, on the left hand side as you travel towards Pontypool, are continuing.

Part of the wall has been taken down and is currently being rebuilt. Calculations by council workers showed the wall was not suitable to hold back the earth behind it.

Caerphilly County Borough Council are in discussion with the contractor to design anchors to hold the wall back. These works are due to start on Monday, July 18. In the meantime a combination of the contractor controlling the lights manually and road users using alternative routes have, according to the council, significantly reduced delay times.
