Former Coronation Street actor Sean Wilson, aka Martin Platt, will be making a special appearance at this year’s Big Cheese Festival in Caerphilly.

Since leaving the ITV1 soap, Sean has become a keen ‘foodie’ and now devotes his time to his own business – The Saddleworth Cheese Co.

Visitors to this year’s Big Cheese event will get the chance to see Sean taking part in cookery demonstrations preparing a range of tasty dishes. They will also get to sample some of his world-renowned cheeses within the food marquee on the festival site.

The annual Big Cheese weekend kicks off with a traditional funfair, entertainment and a firework display on the evening of Friday July 29. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, the festival really takes off with over 150 food and craft stalls, dance, live music, entertainment, a huge funfair plus lots of activities for the whole family.

The actor said: “This will be my first visit to the Big Cheese, but I’ve heard it is one of the best summer events in south Wales so I’m very excited to be involved. I have a keen passion for food and love creating some of the most exciting cheeses in the UK industry today, so I hope my produce goes down well with the crowds.”
