Police re-appeal over mystery of man, 27, found dead in road near Blackwood

UPDATE: Family tribute to man found dead in road near Blackwood

Gwent Police is re-appealing for information after a 27-year-old man was found dead at the side of Penmaen Road, between Oakdale and Pontllanfraith, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man has now been identified Ian Hamilton, also known as Parker Hamilton, from Bristol.

Anyone who was walking or driving along the road between 2am and 4am have been asked to contact police, in particular the drivers of two light coloured saloon vehicles seen on the road.

A police spokeswoman said: “We need the help of the drivers of these two cars because they were in the vicinity of where the deceased was found within the time parameters of our investigation.”

Mr Hamilton, who is from Bristol, was visiting family in the area and is known to have been at a social event earlier in the evening. He was seen walking from the bus station area in Blackwood and it is known he walked along Penmaen Road in the direction of Oakdale.

The death is still being treated as unexplained.

Anyone with information should contact Gwent Police on 101.
