Caerphilly County Borough Council has been praised by the Welsh Government for its partnership work.
In a letter from Local Government Minister, Carl Sargeant, the authority was comended for its work alongside Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations, Gwent Police, Aneurin Bevan Health Board and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Mr Sargeant wrote: “It is pleasing to see that all partners are working to the principles of the Caerphilly County Borough Compact and that this being the fourth Compact, it continues to go from strength to strength in proving that an effective framework helps to meet the needs of the citizens of the county borough.”
Cllr Allan Pritchard, leader of the council welcomed the letter.
He said “All Compact members are pleased to receive the praise and recognition by the Minister, especially after his recent comments relating to partnerships at the WLGA conference which made it seem as though the public sector was not collaborating effectively with each other”.
Anthony O’Sullivan, Chief Executive of Caerphilly County Borough Council added: “I am also pleased to see the Minister recognise our partnership work.
“My corporate management team have put a lot of effort into ensuring our officers recognise the importance of the third sector, and the Compact goes a long way to support our work as the local service board in delivering a comprehensive ‘Team Caerphilly’ approach for our residents.”
