UPDATE: Man, 27, found dead in Oakdale a possible hit and run victim

Police investigating the mystery of a 27-year-old man found dead in the road near Blackwood during the early hours of Sunday have released CCTV images of cars they would like to trace.

Ian Hamilton, who was also known as Parker, was found dead at the side of Penmaen Road, between Oakdale and Pontllanfraith.

He was last seen walking from the bus station area in Blackwood and it is known he walked along Penmaen Road in the direction of Oakdale.

Gwent Police is treating the death as unexplained and has appealed for information from the public.

Officers want to speak to anyone walking or driving along the road between 2am and 4am, in particular the drivers or occupants of three light coloured cars, captured in CCTV stills.

The vehicles were seen on the road in the area of where Mr Hamilton was found and within the time frame of the police investigation.

Mr Hamilton, who is from Bristol, was visiting family in the area and is known to have been at a social event earlier in the evening.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwent Police on 101.
