A Caerphilly-based manufacturer specialising in products for the healthcare sector has scooped a prestigious industry award.

Direct Healthcare Services Ltd, based on the town’s Western Industrial Estate, was recently awarded the Innovative Product Showcase Award at the National Association of Equipment Providers (NAEP) 2011 Conference in Blackpool.

The firm won the award for its Dyna-Form Mercury Advance Mattress – which helps prevent patients at high risk from developing pressure sores.

It was the company’s third award in two years following success at the Caerphilly Business Forum Awards last year.

Neil Smith, director and partner at the firm, said: “It is an utter delight winning this prestigious award in what has been a fantastic trading period for the company.

“We support NAEP every year and this particular award is voted for by conference delegates and, importantly, our very own customers. Therefore it is all the more special to us.

“Although I collected the award, I must pay credit to the genius designer that happens to be my business partner and the company’s chief executive Jon Lewis, and furthermore the entire team behind us at the Caerphilly manufacturing operation.

“In addition, I would like to sincerely thank everyone further afield that have supported us, not only this award, but our tremendous growth since conception.”
