Islwyn MP Chris Evans was recently given a sports history lesson on biker Barry Sheen and football’s Busby Babes by a group of sports mad youngsters.
The Labour MP visited the Crumlin High Level School book club and was given presentations on the two sporting greats and discussed his favourite books.
The book club is made up of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils and aims to show boys the relevance of reading by introducing them to positive male role models.
Mr Evans said: “I was delighted to go back to school and learn about Barry Sheen and the Busby Babes. The presentations were very well researched and the students clearly worked very hard.
“Being able to read has a big impact on self confidence and the skills used in their presentations will undoubtedly help them later in life.”
