The First Minister of Wales Carwyn Jones has thanked the people who have kept Wales safe in recent days.
Mr Jones said: “I would like to pay tribute to those police officers, youth and community workers and council staff who have worked tirelessly this week with communities in Wales to keep our streets peaceful and our people safe.
“I was pleased to hear that in some areas of Cardiff staff from the Welsh Government’s Communities First programme were instrumental in working with other agencies in reducing tensions.
“My thanks and thoughts also go to those police officers from Wales who have been assisting colleagues in London and in other parts of England to deal with the unrest.
“Like the rest of the nation I have seen the events of recent days unfold with extreme concern. We have seen people’s homes and lives wrecked by some individuals who clearly have very little respect for their neighbours.”
