Caerphilly County Borough Council’s team of ten community safety wardens have been given bikes to help them get around better.

To date the community safety wardens have carried out their duties primarily on foot.

Cllr Rob Gough, cabinet member for public protection said: “Our dedicated team of community safety wardens have always worked tirelessly to provide a visible presence in communities right across the Caerphilly County Borough – quite a task for just ten people, but they have achieved this task admirably.

“By introducing bicycles as an additional means of transport, this will allow our wardens to continue their excellent work even more efficiently.”

Will this mean that the ratepayers of the Borough will save money by the reduction of shiny new vans these people usually swan around in.

I bet they will still be deployed in pairs, for their own safety of course no doubt.

What a thorough watse of ratepayers money and what a disgracful drain on public finances at a time of severe constraint for everyone else.

Can people please post blogs of positive experiences with this group of this serperfluous, already financially strapped local council provision.
