Environment Agency Wales is warning people in South Wales to be prepared for possible surface flooding today (August 26).
The Met Office has updated forecasts of locally intense rainfall and slow-moving heavy showers across South West, South East and Mid Wales, which may lead to surface water flooding.
River flooding is not expected due to low river levels and relatively dry ground conditions across Wales.
The Agency is advising people to listen to local weather and traffic reports and updates on the radio or TV, or if able to, view the latest information on the Met Office website.
Care should be taken if driving as conditions may be hazardous, and people should listen to traffic reports for advice and for any disruption locally.
Environment Agency Wales is encouraging communities to be prepared for flooding by drawing up a community flood plan.
The Agency’s Flood Awareness Wales manager Amanda Irvine said: “Although flooding cannot be completely prevented there are many things that communities can do in advance to lessen its impact.
“We’re urging anyone active in their local community such as leaders of community groups, people working at schools, hospitals and residential homes, as well as any other interested members of the community to complete a community flood plan for their area.
“Working together as a group is vital during flooding to help ensure a fast response, and having an emergency plan in place can prevent stress later on, protect properties and ultimately help save lives.”
